Recount text saint mary's way

when I and my group on Saturday, October 11th, my group and my friends carried out the task given by the teachers, namely SMW, SMW carried out services in the form of visiting orphanages, nursing homes, my group came to the orphanage, I came to the orphanage at 9 am and finished around 12 pm, for the address of the Cahaya Kasih orphanage is on Jalan Karya Mukti number 132 then the transportation used was in the form of private vehicles or online motorcycle taxis and also during this implementation we were accompanied by Mr. Davin.

When we arrived at the orphanage, the atmosphere immediately felt warm and cheerful, the children there immediately greeted us cheerfully and warmly as did the caregivers who accompanied them. After that, we introduced ourselves and explained what we would do, after that we started the activities with a small service such as singing and reading the Bible, then there were several games such as playing puzzles for children under 6 years old, coloring for children 3-5 years old, and Bible quizzes for children aged 7-12 years old.

During the games, the children were very happy and enthusiastic about winning. Some were also coloring while telling stories. This created a sense of warmth and love within them, which in turn made others feel warm within them.

After doing all these activities, before that we had prepared a hope tree as a souvenir to be kept in the orphanage but because of insufficient time it was not done, don't forget after playing some games we also gave gifts to each child and caregiver such as snacks, some decorations/ornaments and also the remaining money was given in the form of rice or basic necessities.

The simple yet warm atmosphere of the orphanage made us feel comfortable from the start, and every activity we did seemed to strengthen the small bonds we had developed during our time there. After tidying up our supplies and ensuring we had left nothing behind, we said goodbye to the caretakers and children who had greeted us enthusiastically since morning. Our departure felt different—lighter yet deeper, as if we were taking home stories, experiences, and lessons we would remember for a long time.

In my opinion, service is a person or group of people who help or give love to others in need. This is also what Mother Mary taught her children, such as obedience, love, humility, and patience. This is not only to do the tasks given by the teacher but to love others wholeheartedly.

As we come to the end of this presentation, I would like to share a final reflection from my visit to Panti Asuhan Cahaya Kasih. Being there gave me more than just a new experience—it opened my eyes to a warm, sincere atmosphere that cannot be easily forgotten. As we come to the end of this presentation, I would like to share a final reflection from my visit to Panti Asuhan Cahaya Kasih. Being there gave me more than just a new experience—it opened my eyes to a warm, sincere atmosphere that cannot be easily forgotten. The moment I arrived, I was greeted with genuine smiles, simple conversations, and a sense of togetherness that made the place feel welcoming. Even though the facilities were modest, the kindness and positive energy from the children and caretakers created an environment filled with hope.

Throughout my time there, I was able to interact, observe, and learn from the daily routines that shape their lives. Watching how they support each other, study together, and stay cheerful despite challenges taught me an important lesson about gratitude and empathy. It reminded me that happiness does not always come from having many things, but from appreciating what I have and staying connected with the people around me.

My visit was not just an activity I had to complete—it became a meaningful moment that encouraged me to look beyond myself. It helped me understand the value of sharing, listening, and giving even in small ways. Hopefully, the memories from this experience will stay with me and inspire me to keep contributing positively to others in the future.

With that, I want to thank everyone who guided, supported, and allowed me to take part in this program. I hope this reflection gives a clearer picture of what I learned at Panti Asuhan Cahaya Kasih.
